| "Engage yourselves in service
activity. Consider social service as service to
God. This is the best way to earn God's Love. Love
all and serve all. Your entire life will be sanctified
thereby" Sathya Sai Baba |
| God is Love and can be won only
through the cultivation and exercise of Love. He
cannot be trapped by any trick; He yields Grace
only when His commands are followed - command to
love all, serve all. When you love and serve all,
you are serving yourself most, yourself whom you
love most! For God's Grace envelops you then and
you are strengthened beyond all previous experience.
Let all days of living be a continuos offering of
Love, as an oil lamp exhausts itself in illumining
the surroundings. Bend the body, mend the senses
and end the mind - that is the process of attaining
the status of 'children of immortality', which the
Upanishads have reserved for man. |
| Seva (service) brings out all that
is great in man. It broadens the heart and widens
ones vision. It fills one with joy. It promotes
unity. It proclaims the truth of the spirit. It
drives out all evil qualities in a man. It must
be regarded as a great spiritual discipline. You
are born to serve, not to dominate. Everyone in
the world is a servant and not a master. All relationships
- husband and wife, mother and child, the employer
and employee - are based on mutual service. The
world is progressing because of such mutual service.
Seva should be done out of a sense of duty. |
| The body has been given to man for
the performance of right action. Every person has
to discharge his duties in life. It is a sin to
ignore one's duties. Perform you duties without
regard to what others say or do. Engage yourself
in service activity. Consider social service as
service to God. To earn the Love of God, this is
the easiest way. The best way to love God is to
love all and serve all. Your entire life sanctified
thereby. |
|
You do not try
to understand the true meaning of service. Man
is born for selfless service. Selfless service
alone can bring about unity in humanity. Only
through unity, can humanity attain Divinity. Hence
service is very essential to understand unity
in diversity. People are under the impression
that service means helping the forlorn and the
weak. It is a great mistake to think that you
serve others. In fact, you serve yourself because
the same principle of Atma, of Love exists in
all
|
| You cannot call an act, service if
done with ego. First of all the ego has to be subdued.
Body attachment has to be given up. The spirit of
oneness will sprout once the ego is annihilated.
Just as hands, eyes, nose, mouth etc. are the limbs
of the body, likewise, all human beings are the
limbs of the society. Society is the limb of Nature
and Nature is the limb of God. Seeing this vast
Nature, one should not think that it is different
from God. One should understand the fundamental
truth that Divinity pervades the entire creation. |
| No visit to any pilgrim centre,
no penance, no yogic practice will help you in crossing
over the ocean of samsara (world) other than the
service rendered to the noble. |
| Eternal Joy Through
Service |
| If you lift the hand to serve, to
help, to console, to encourage another man you are
lifting it for God, because in every man is God.
|
| Be of service to others, for that
is giving yourself to Me. For whatever you give,
I will repay you thrice, Nay I shall repay you ten-fold.
Try Me and you will see. I say to those who know
the joy of giving, look back! Yes, look back and
see how each time you felt that nothing but a miracle
could save you, keep you alive, fill your larder,
save your son, stop a disaster - has not that miracle
happened? Divine guidance is always at the side
of the giver. Yes, I will give to those who give
of themselves, untold Joy and Bliss; and what is
more, I will lead them by the hand along those petal
strewn paths of Eternal Joy. |
| Every deed performed, do it in My
Name. Every person who passes near your path give
them the sweetness of your smile. Give freely of
the nectar of your cup of happiness, of kindness,
of Blissfulness. Give the warmth of your love. Extend
your hand as I extend Mine to you. |
